Motivational Speaking

“the attitude of the teacher was the thing that I found best during this course as she motivated me to continue with education.” - Young Offender Feltham Prison

Talk about a tough crowd…

30 Young Offenders at one of the UK’s toughest Young Offender Prisons!

feltham

The Younger Offenders were as nervous as I was, they weren’t sure what a blind woman would be able to tell them in a couple of hours which they didn’t already know. How could my experiences possibly help them?

Turns out quite a bit…

“To see someone else’s perspective when they don’t have what I’ve been blessed with, which makes me grateful.” - Young Offender Feltham Prison

95.6% of responders said the training had ‘helped them see there are other options in life’.

I like to quote Katie Piper who was tragically burned in an acid attack by an ex-boyfriend. She says:-

“Always remember you’re living someone’s dream.”

What this means is that no matter how hard you may think you have it, there is always someone for who would give everything to have what you have. In Katie’s case she would have given anything not to be scared and to have her old life back. A facial scar is something you cannot easily hide, it goes everywhere with you.

In the case of Feltham Young Offenders, you maybe in prison, have lost your liberty and gained a criminal record BUT you have your sight and your health – I’D SWAP WITH YOU NOW!!

When you begin to see life from this perspective you realise just how lucky you have been and the blessings which you have. Given these blessing – are you really doing the best with them?
